Virtual Reliquary is a virtual reality environment housing relics of the physical world. 15 rocks from around the world were donated through an open call for rocks. These specimens were then modeled using 3D scanning technology. The result is a diverse collection of virtual sculptures, each with a tie to a specific place and person in the world. The soundscape was synthesized from sound recordings of the rocks using piezoelectric microphones with the aim of reconnecting with the unique materiality of the rocks in a digital space.
